Fault determinedWhen cable fault appeared,pls first judge fault feather and broken lever.The communication fault are divided into three kinds as below:
- Broken fault:cable broken and communication
grounding fault,self-crossing fault,and common crossing. During these conditions,the insulating layer was broken even touched to affect the communication quality.
- Crossing fault which is generally classified into three kinds:
Defective insulation fault:
The cable core is entranced by moisture or water to reduce the insolation resistance.The difference between this and above crossing fault is this has a big resistance,common over thousand Ohms.
In generally,for above first and second fault,it's easy to detect by pulse test,but for the third,user should consider the cable path,time of fault,range of the fault,environment and so on.
Before testing,pls disconnection inside devices with problem cable first.
Then inside testing to make sure the rough location of the fault point.
After then,go to the filed to pinpoint the fault.
When testing,connect the Main jack with the testing clip to nip the fault line pair.
Choose testing range
be several hundred meters longer than the length of the cable.For example,if the cable is 900m,the testing range should be 2km.when found the fault point closer,reduce the range accordingly.

Setting the wave velocityAccording different cable material,user should choose different wave velocity.*Some common cable pls take below for reference:

The beginning of the reflection impulse waveform is the fault position.When move the cursor into this position,for example,the virtual cursor in pic.5,there will be a distance appear in the right corner of the screen which is the fault distance.
Pls notice,if the cursor on other position,the distance is not useful.
*Auto position: Press "Auto"key,device will automatically position.If deviation,pls position manual.
Press to move the cursor.Pic.6 is a representative cross waveform,the downward wave is crossing fault,the upward waveform is broken fault.
To get a higher resolution,pls use zoom in/out function.

Waveform temporary storage and compareIt's easier to distinguish the fault type through comparing the good cable and fault cable.Waveform compare
- Test to get the fault waveform and press TS to keep it.There's a TS mark on the left corner of the screen.
- Test a good cable under the same condition.Press Comp. To show the two waveforms together and there'll be a compare mark on the screen.
Relative distance measurement(zero point of the cursor)To get the distance between the fault point and the reference point,for example,the cable connect,pls operate as below:
- The solid cursor on the default zero position
- Move the virtual cursor to the fault point,and press Zero key to change the positions of solid cursor and virtual cursor.Now the solid cursor on the position of the fault point and virtual cursor on the zero position.
Move the virtual cursor to the refence point,then the distance is the relative distance between two cursors as pic.8.Press Zero again to exchange the solid and virtual cursor.
Gain compensation settingThe device default gain compensation is 0.4mm dia. Wire. Device compensate according the 0.4mm wire attenuation characteristic.
If the target cable is not 0.4mm wire,press Gain com. again to cancel gain compensation function.
Differential measurementUse this method to get the different waveform of fault wire pair and good wire pair.It's useful to distinguish the cable fault distance.
- Press Diff key,the signal pair on the left corner of the screen will change to differential.
- Connect another testing line with the auxiliary jack. Connect the main testing line with the fault line,auxiliary jack with the good cable wire pair.
- Test to get two pairs difference waveform
- Press Diff. Key to return to the signal pair mode.
Press Auto key,the device will automatically test,choose range and position cursor.The result is only for reference.

Wave velocity correctAccording now the cable length,we could correct the wave velocity.
Use same known length cable and test the opposite terminal open circuit and short circuit waveform and compare.Move the virtual cursor to the obvious difference and change the wave velocity to make the tested distance same as the known length.Then the velocity is the real fo this cable. If the battery lever is low,we need to charge or change battery.The device will automatically power off when the battery voltage is too low.
The indicating light on the charge indicate the charge status:Red indication means continue,the green light means finished.The charge time is about 4 hours,it's not strict and will not damage the battery.
